Community Heroes 2014

Bumbles Coaches have been honoured at an award ceremony in Saltaire, last Thursday, for their volunteer job in promoting social inclusion and rugby opportunities for all.

The Shipley Area Committee, part of Bradford Council, asked people to nominate individuals and groups who live in the Shipley area, and who contribute proactively to make their Local Community a better place.

Four achievement awards were chosen from four categories – adult, young person, established small group and new small group who have worked together on a project with no paid staff.

Bumbles Coaches, nominated by manager Mark Goodwin, won their category for their outstanding contribution in leading the way of mixed ability rugby creating equal opportunities and for the great achievement reached so far.

At the “Community Heroes Award 2014”, the Bumbles managed to beat several other groups, some of them really well established, showing once again the great interest for what we are doing and the strong link with our Local Community.

But this is not just a prize for the Coaches, it is an award for all the players, facilitators, friends and fans. Without them nothing of this would be possible!
